BHUNA CHICKEN - A DELICIOUS CHICKEN RECIPE

Bhuna chicken or fried chicken is a spicy delicacy which goes well both with chappatis and rice. This dish is very easy to prepare and it takes less time to be cooked. So here are the steps and ingredients to make the dish.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 big sized onion or 2 medium sized onion
  • 1 and half bulb of garlic
  • 3-4 pieces green chilies(optional)
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 4 crushed peppercorn, cinnamon stick and some cloves
  • 1 tablespoon chicken powder
  • 1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon kasturi methi powder
  • 1/2 bowl of curd
  • Salt to taste
  • Refined/Mustard oil
    ONION, TOMATOES,GARLIC,GREEN CHILIES AND DRIED SPICES


PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:
The first step is to clean the chicken properly and marinate it with salt and turmeric powder for half an hour. Then in a bowl of water put the garlic pieces for about 10 to 15 minutes so that its skin can be easily peeled off. While the garlic gets soaked, start chopping onion and tomatoes and the green chilies into small pieces.

STEP 2:
After 10 to 15 minutes peel off the garlic pieces chop them as well into small pieces. Then take a pan heat for 2-3 minutes. Once the pan is hot put 4 tablespoon of oil and let it heat for another 2 minutes. Once the oil is hot pour in the garlic pieces,chopped green chilies ,crushed peppercorn,cinnamon stick and cloves and stir fry them. Now while frying  them lower the flame of the gas, so that the garlics do not get burnt.fry them till the garlics start turning red.At this point start adding the onion and tomatoes and keep the flame of the gas medium.

STEP 3:
Fry the onion and tomato till the tomato pieces start becoming soft. At this point put the marinated chicken into the pan and start cooking it and put the gas on high flame. Cook the chicken till the time its gets well mixed with the mixture of onion garlic and tomatoes.

STEP 4:
 After 10-15 minutes add the dry spices i.e. is chicken masala powder, garam masala powder, Kashmiri red chili powder and the curd.Cook the chicken for at high flame for 5 to 10 minutes.Then lower the flame add some water say about a cup of water and salt to taste,and let the chicken get cooked.Cover the pan with a lid so that the chicken can become soft.

STEP 5:
Once the chicken starts to become soft higher the flame of the chicken 10 minutes, till the water dries out. Once the water dries out lower the flame and garnish the chicken with some kasturi methi powder. This will give the chicken a good aroma and cook it for another one minute.

STEP 6:
 Bhuna chicken is ready serve it with some hot chappatis or hot steaming rice.
