Aloo pusto is a curry which is famous all over the Eastern India especially in the states of West Bengal and Odisha . This dish tastes very yummy and its super easy to cook. This recipe can be cook with and without onion garlic. So here are the steps and ingredients to cook this dish.

- 5 potatoes
- 2 diced tomatoes
- 2-3 green chilies
- Soaked poppy seeds
- 1 small piece ginger
- 1 teaspoon jeera
STEP 1:
The first step is to soak the poppy seeds, jeera, two green chilies and small piece of ginger for minimum one hour. The longer period the poppy seeds will be soaked ,more fine will be its paste.
STEP 2:
In the second step take a jar and put in it the soaked poppy seeds and grind it into a coarse paste.
Then boil the potatoes for 5 to 10 minutes. Then peel off the skin of the potatoes and cut it into small pieces.

STEP 3:
In the next step heat a pan for a minute. Once the pan is hot pour 2-3 tablespoon refined oil or ghee in it. After a minute when the oil or ghee is hot add to it the diced tomatoes and green chilies. Fry this till the tomatoes pieces become soft. At this point add the diced potato pieces and cook them till they start turning red. At this point add the posto or poppy seeds paste. Once the paste is added lower the flame of the gas.
STEP 4:
After adding the posto and poppy seeds paste cook it for a minute and then add to it 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt to it. Then add little water to it and cook it till the rawness of the turmeric powder and posto goes away.
STEP 5:
Aloo pusto is ready serve it with poori or parathas or rice.
