Mendu vada is a popular Indian snack which has different names in different places. These are fitters made from urad dal and rice,but using rice is optional. So here are the steps and ingredients to make the recipe.

- 1 cup of urad dal
- 1 big size onion
- 1 teaspoon jeera(cumin seeds)
- 2 to 3 green chilies
- 1 inch ginger
- Salt to taste
- Oil
STEP 1:
The first step is to soak the urad dal for four to five hours. Once the dal is properly soaked for four to five hours, grind it into thick and smooth paste.The consistency of the the batter should be such that it can be easily held with hands and can be given a shape.
STEP 2:
Then chop the onion,ginger and green chilies into small pieces.Add all of them and jeera to the batter and mix them well. Then heat a pan and put generous amount of oil into it, because the vadas are deep fried fitters. Then wet your hands and take a small amount of batter and put it into the hot oil . Cook it at medium flame for two to three minutes . Once it becomes golden brown take it out from the pan.
STEP 3:
Mendu vada is ready serve it with chutney,sambar or ghuguni.
