NIMKI- A PERFECT CHAI TIME SNACK

Nimki is a snack which is very popular in the eastern part of India. One can find this snack in any tea stalls or small shops. They are made in different shapes and sizes. Political discussion are seemed to be incomplete without cha and nimki. So here the easy steps to make this recipe.

CHAI NIMKI

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup of refined flour (maida)
  • 3-4 tablespoon of refined / vegetable oil
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of Katuri Methi (optional)
  • 1/2 a teaspoon Kalonji
  • Salt to taste.
    Refined flour, salt, kalonji, Kasturi methi

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

First pour 1 cup of refined flour into a bowl. Add  3-4 tablespoon of oil, Kasturi Methi, Kalonji and salt to it. Mix them well and knead everything into a dough, by adding little water to it.  The dough should neither be too nor too soft. Let the dough rest for 5-10 minutes.

STEP 2:

After 5-10 minutes knead the dough again and divide it into small section. Cover the small sections of dough with the help of a cloth least it dries out. Take a section of dough and roll it into the size that of roti. Then cut it into different shapes, and keep them aside.

STEP 3:


Then heat a kadhai and pour a generous amount of oil into it. Let the oil heat. When the oil is hot put the cut pieces of the raw nimki and fry them at low medium flame. The amount of oil should be such that the nimki pieces would float in it. When they start to turn brown take them out of the kadhai. Repeat the same with the other sections of the dough.

STEP 4:

Nimki is ready, enjoy it with tea.
