UPMA- HEALTHY BREAKFAST



Upma is the typical Indian breakfast which is made in every household. Upma when added with some veggies turns out to be a healthy breakfast option. Its very easy to cook, so here are the easy steps and ingredients.
UPMA AND SAMBARπŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

INGREDIENTS;


  • 1 bowl of semolina(suji)
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1 small sized carrot
  • 5 grams of beans
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • Salt to taste


PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

In the first step is to chop veggies into small pieces so that it can get cooked quickly. Then slice the onion, ginger and green chilies into thin pieces. Heat a kadhai, and roast the suji for a minute and keep it aside.  Then in the same kadhai, pour in 2 tablespoon of oil and let it heat. When the oil is hot pour the mustard seeds and wait till they start to crackle. Once the mustard seeds starts crackling add the veggies, onion, ginger and green chilies to it. Cook them till the onion pieces becomes soft.

STEP 2:

Then add 2 bowls of water in it. Now the container for water should be the same container in which the suji was measured. The ratio of suji is to water should be 1:2 i.e. one bowl of suji 2 bowls of water. Let the water boil. When it starts to boil pour in the roasted sooji and cook it for 5 minutes, then switch off the flame of the gas.

STEP 3:

Upma is ready. Enjoy it with sambar, chutney or pickle.
